We stopped by for about an hour. Chachi had so much fun meeting the #dogs you see pictured above. They were all so sweet and eager to play with Chachi. I love our #dogpark here in #SanMarcos. It has a covered picnic area for #petparents to relax and enjoy watching their #pets run and play. There is even a water fountain set at #dog height for easy access to #drinking. And, of course, it has two gates at the entrance, to protect your #pets on either side of the fence. It's like a holding area in case you still need to wrangle them in or get their leash on. Sometimes, I have found it helps you to see your #pets reaction to the #dogpark and other #dogs present before you open the second gate. There's plenty of green grass to pee on and dirt to dig holes in, too!
On the other side, there is the second part of the park, specifically meant for #largedogbreeds. This side also has the same features of the #smalldogpark, but is larger in size to accommodate larger #dogs, as they need more room to run and play. Some #petparents like to mix it up and take their #smalldogs and let them play with the big guys. Sometimes, it's necessary, if there's no one over in the #smalldogpark for their #pets to play with. But, please do so with caution.
I'm a strong advocate of #dogparks. I have seen the positive effect they can have on #pets and their development. #Dogparks allow your #pets to be socialized in a safe and controlled environment with people who share an interest in #petsafety.
I brought Chachi here every #weekend throughout his #puppyhood to socialize him, though, he didn't need any help, lol! But for some, this process is necessary. Bringing your #pets to a #dogpark helps them get used to other #dogs, people, and being outside and able to run free! This is especially great for #pets who live in small spaces, like apartments or who spend most of the day indoors. Pets were meant to be outside. So, even if you do not have access to a #dogpark where you live, take them to any park that is safe and #petfriendly. You can also talk to your city council members about building one! Or, start your own doggie play date group!
I'm certainly gonna take my boy back next #weekend to the #dogpark here in #sanmarcos! He really enjoyed doing something different and making new friends! Have a great week and Happy #Monday!
