It looks like we'll be spending the #Thanksgiving holiday with Skipper! Yay! We have come to call the Burke #family our #friends, as they have been so good to us. Since I offer #pet #reiki healing sessions, I figure why not treat Mrs. Burke, as well. She has just finished #chemotherapy and we want her healthy. While Chachi and I are there, we'll love to take Skipper on a complimentary walk since his mama can't take him right now. Chachi gets to come over and play, too, so it's a win/win alll around! #Life and #business are good!
Today Chachi and I paid a visit to our newest client, Skipper, and his family! We were so happy to see them and catch up! The #dogs ran and played together all through the house as I visited with Skipper's parents.

One day last month, I was on my way home to feed my #cat, Chaz. When I turned onto my street, I noticed a small dog lying in the middle of the street. I parked and got out of the car to see if he was alive. Yes, but just barely. He got up and walked away. As he rose I saw that he was thin, frail, losing fur, and one of his eyes seemed to be almost closed.
I immediately called for help. When I spoke with animal control, apparently they had already received several calls about the same dog and his three other siblings. It seemed someone had dumped all four #Chihuahuas in my neighborhood. Unbelievable! The nerve of some humans! Having a #pet is a lifetime committment. Perhaps some humans think animals aren't as important as children. If your child appeared ill, you'd rush to the doctor. So, why not do the same for these poor Chihuahuas that, as domestic animals, depend on us for help? This is my greatest mission as a #petcare provider and #animallover. My goal is to educate folks on how to properly care for their pets and do right by strays they may come across. Domestic animals such as cats and dogs are, in my opinion, one of God's best gifts to mankind. We should treasure them. I dream of the day when it will be a given to witness a neighbor or stranger do right by any animal he encounters, domestic or #stray, without needing to be told. If you feel the same way, do what you can to educate and #advocate for our furry friends in your neck of the woods. Until then next time! This holiday weekend, please be sure to secure your pets. The noise and mayhem of a fireworks display can be tremendously stressful and frightening for them.
You can take some steps as a pet parent to ensure your pet does not run away. 1. Introduce them to some similar sounds before and after fireworks to desensitize them. 2. Attempt to drown out the noise with soothing music or the television. 3. Close the curtains. 4. Put them in an interior space or room away from commotion. Be sure to stock area with treats, favorite toys, bed, blanket, fresh water, etc. 5. Stay with them and keep them calm, if you can 6. Allow your pet to hide within the home. They'll come out when they're ready. 7. Clean up your yard before allowing pets back out. You wouldn't want them playing with or chewing on firework debris. 8. Remember, your pet picks up on your feelings. If your calm and relaxed, they will be, too. |
